Sketchbook Ideas
Experimenting with adding texture to patterns. Here, I used fine liner pens to draw tiny circles and lines into patterns. As mentioned in my sketchbook, it was difficult to create this using my desired colours, as the fine liner colours are limited.
Design Inspiration- Erica Pochybova- Johnson
Erica Pochybova - Johnson uses a similar technique when creating her designs, using tiny dots to create pattern and texture.
This particular image; 'Undaunted' 2013, was created using acrylic paint on hardboard and measures 48" x 42".
I have tried a similar technique in my sketchbook, using gouache paint, Although it doesn't have the same effect as a simple pattern as those large, complex designs.
